"It made me feel better about my math abilities." "I have been out of high school for 10 years and was very skeptical about this course because it was so short. However, it has helped very much to refresh my memory. . . I would recommend this to everyone who has been 'out of touch' with the mathematics world for as long as I have." ---Comments from

The Math Department will offer a self-paced, math refresher program, Acing Algebra, that is designed to help students prepare for the Math Placement Exam. The program is intended to help students refresh their skills in Beginning and Intermediate Algebra. Students will be provided instruction that will help them receive a Level 2 or 3 on the exam.
The program will be offered August 21st - August 28th, 2008 (including Saturday and Sunday!). A student will need to commit to approximately four days of full instruction. Depending on individual needs, some students will require less time and some may require more time. Ideally students will finish the program by August 25th, the first day of classes but students do have until August 28th to finish the program. An Academic Professional from the Math Department will provide one-on-one guidance throughout the program.
There is a $125.00 fee. This fee includes a two-night stay in the Residence Hall on August 20th and 21st (if necessary) and a Math Placement Exam. No textbook is required. The Math Department will provide each student with a manual for the computer-based tutorial program that will be used.
See program schedule below. For more information, contact the Math Department at 307-766-6577 or email David Anton .
