Computing Resources

The Institute for Scientific Computation provides computational equipments and support for faculty members at the University of Wyoming in the development of algorithms and scientific computation of very large scale. The institute currently maintains the following equipment.

Linux Beowulf Cluster

22 nodes
2 AMD Opteron 248 processors per node
4GB of RAM per node
Running Fedora Core 2
With MPICH, GCC, and the Portland Group Compilers
Featuring the OpenPBS (torque) scheduling system

  • 2 Origin 200s w/512 MB of memory and four parallel processors

SGI Workstations

  • 7 O2 workstations w/64MB of memory

  • 1 Indigo II Extreme w/64MB of memory

  • 1 Dell Precision 650 w/1 GB of memory and two Intel Xeon 2.4 GHz processors

  • 4 AMD Athlon 950MHz PC workstations w/ 128MB memory
