The William Lowell Putnam exam is competition which takes place across North America every December, and is taken by over 3000 university students.  At the University of Wyoming, we have practice sessions in the fall to work on math problems and prepare for the competition.  During Fall Semester, 2006, the practice sessions will meet 3:15-5:00 pm in Ross Hall 308, starting Monday, September 11.

Any student is welcome to participate in the exam, and in the practice sessions.
Students who wish to can get 2 credit hours for this by enrolling in Math 2850.
Please contact Sylvia Hobart if you are interested in participating in 2006.

Every week, a new list of problems is handed out during the problem sessions.

Problem solving strategies and mathematical content appropriate for the Putnam Exam are emphasized with problem sets taken from previous Putnam or other international math contests.
