Description:
(TOP)
The
Workshop will be held at the University of Wyoming in
Laramie, Wyoming, under the auspices of the Rocky Mountain
Consortium and the Fields Institute. This summer school is
also supported in part by the Informatics Circle of Research
(iCORE) and the Institute for Mathematics and its
Application (IMA) through its Participating Institution (PI)
Program. PI members may use IMA/PI funds to support travel
of their personnel to this conference.
The purpose of
this summer school is to bring student participants up to
speed on the most recent developments in mathematical
cryptography. Early registration is suggested since
space is limited this year. In addition to the lectures, the
conference will consist of student projects, group
discussions, question and answer times, problem sessions and
workshop periods.
The summer school will take place
immediately before the Fall 2006 Fields Institute
Thematic Program in Cryptography.
A related program takes place at IPAM, on the topic of "Securing
Cyberspace."
This
three-week Summer School will introduce the participants to
the theory and applications of computational number theory
and its consequences for cryptography. Topics include:
-
Arithmetic of algebraic number fields and algebraic
function fields.
-
Primality and integer factorization.
-
Discrete logarithm: Pollard rho, Pollard kangaroo, index
calculus.
-
Public key cryptography
-
Elliptic curve cryptosystems (ECC)
-
Hyperelliptic curve cryptosystems (HCC)
-
Pairings
-
Computational complexity
-
Multivariate Public-Key Cryptosystems
-
Lattices and lattice-based cryptosystems
Prerequisites
(TOP)
Undergraduate courses in algebra or number theory. A
graduate course in Algebra or number theory would be very
helpful, but not necessary.

conference should complete the registration.
The application can be completed
electronically.
Faculty seeking funding should submit a vita, a letter
describing his or her professional aspirations and what he
or she hopes to accomplish by participation in this
conference, and a letter of recommendation from the
applicant's department chairperson. Graduate students
seeking funding should submit a supporting letter from their

Transportation from the Denver
International Airport to Laramie, Wyoming for the 2006
IMA/RMMC Conference
Laramie is located 130 miles
north of Denver, Colorado, 60 miles north of Fort Collins,
Colorado and 45 miles west of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Denver
International Airport (DIA) is the major airport serving
Wyoming.
Participants can
book a flight to Laramie from Denver; however flights are
limited into Laramie. The following are the flight times
from DIA to Laramie (via Great Lakes Aviation). We recommend
flying to Laramie as the best option and there is free
pickup by University staff for transportation to the
residence halls. Reservations for this service must be made
with Mr. Terry Shearin at:
