-- The Math Lab provides free assistance
with mathematics to UW students. Priority is given to students with questions
related
to algebra, trig, and calculus. We help with problems and questions outside
this list whenever possible.

-- The people who teach Math courses
on campus are the ones who are scheduled to help in the Math
Lab. There is one part-time instructor or graduate or undergraduate teaching
assistant on duty, and typically a faculty member or fulltime instructor is
on call.
-- Math Lab is informal. We don't make
appointments. You may stay 10 minutes, or you can stay all day. Come to check
your work, or ask the helpers to guide you through a problem or a procedure.
Maybe you just need to talk about the concept, like "What is a derivative,
really?" Math Lab helpers try to accommodate your needs. The best help
can be given when you are best prepared to receive it. Organize your questions.
Mark places in your textbook where you don't understand the idea(s).
--
New this year, Math Lab houses a couple
of Internet active PCs so that you may access Math software and online tutorials.
***In addition to the UW Math Lab, the Laramie County
Community College Math Department also has a Math Lab, primarily for Math
0900-0925 classes. It is located in Wyoming Hall room 327, and it's hours are
Monday - Thursday, 1 - 4 pm.*** |
