Title: An inverse problem arising in flow of particles and water in a porous medium
Date: Nov. 20th, 2007
Time: 4:10-5:00pm
Abstract: The flow of particles in water that are retained in a porous medium
is described by a very simple system of conservation laws, which involves an
empirical function that can only be measured indirectly. We solve the inverse
problem of determining the so called filtration function, by means of a functional
equation. This has an important application in secondary oil recovery.
